New brand and engagement platform implemented in 2018 with ongoing support
The Shire of Mundaring sought to strengthen its community and stakeholder engagement through a dedicated online platform. As a Local Government authority with a continuous pipeline of consultation projects, the Shire also required a centralised solution to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
The project commenced with a comprehensive needs assessment and the development of a business case, which was subsequently presented to and endorsed by Council.
We then conducted a detailed review of available engagement software platforms, providing a comparative analysis of features, inclusions and costs. This enabled the Council to make an informed decision based on suitability, scalability and value.
Following this process, the Shire selected Engagement Hub as its preferred online engagement platform.
To support launch and adoption, we developed a standalone engagement brand—visually aligned with the corporate identity but clearly differentiated to signal participatory opportunities to the community. Three brand concepts were presented, with the chosen design being approachable and community-friendly in tone.
Working alongside Engagement Hub, we implemented the new platform and developed both public-facing and internal projects for the initial rollout. Internal initiatives included a staff portal featuring access to all brand assets, community engagement frameworks, templates, key organisational contacts and guidelines for initiating engagement projects.
To ensure successful integration, multiple group and one-on-one training sessions were delivered to staff. The platform and internal portal were embedded within the Council intranet and actively promoted through internal channels—critical to ensuring widespread uptake and effective platform use.
We remain involved, providing ongoing support and strategic advice through Engagement Hub to help maximise the impact of their digital engagement efforts.
“Throughout implementation they have been reactive to our needs, supportive to our learning the system and have held our hand guiding us to better improve the way in which we can enhance our community engagement.”
