We’re pleased to share that Karenna Wood from Elevate Consultancy is now the regional Start Up Aotearoa coach for Nelson Tasman and the West Coast, through a partnership with Mahitahi Colab, Start Up Aotearoa, and Ministry of Awesome.
This role supports early-stage founders across the region with practical, one-to-one guidance designed to help ideas become viable, scalable businesses. Coaching begins with the fundamentals and focuses on helping founders make clearer decisions early, so they build stronger foundations for growth.
Supporting founders at the beginning of the journey
Start Up Aotearoa is a national initiative designed to support early-stage entrepreneurs through personalised coaching and practical next steps. Founders receive tailored advice, actionable outcomes, and access to resources that help move their idea forward. Coaching is available nationwide through a network of experienced startup advisors.

The Mahitahi Colab is itself a partnership between NMIT, Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce and the Nelson Regional Development Agency – giving startups access across the whole business and innovation ecosystem in the region.
Together, these partnerships create more accessible pathways for founders in regional New Zealand to access expert guidance without needing to leave their local community.
